Meet Brian and David—innkeepers and hosts behind Miss Murphy’s High Street Inn (with Mafalda, our off-duty sidekick)

We’re Brian and David, and we’re proud to be just the third innkeepers of this historic bed and breakfast. We’re the caretakers of a house that has been welcoming guests for decades and still makes people feel right at home. We take that role seriously, while keeping everything relaxed and genuinely welcoming.

Before calling Galena home, our lives and work took us around the world — from the mountains of southern Africa to the historic streets of Oxford, from sun-soaked Mexico to cities across the United States. Along the way, we stayed everywhere from simple guesthouses to grand old hotels, quietly noticing the small details that made a place feel thoughtful, comfortable, and memorable.

Now we get to do that for others — and it’s our favorite part of the job. We love meeting new people, swapping stories over coffee, helping guests plan the perfect Galena day, and sharing the walks, shops, views, and hidden corners we’ve come to adore. And mornings? That’s when the magic really happens. Fresh coffee, beautifully set tables, and top-notch breakfasts made to delight, linger over, and start the day smiling.
